Cruelty Presiding over the Prison Ship
Robert Smirke made this engraving for Joel Barlow's epic poem "The Columbiad" (1807).
Robert Smirke was an English artist. Barlow depicted the cruelty of British forces in occupied New York City as contrary to the sentiments of the British people.
